January Furniture Show 2018

January Furniture Show 2018

Today has been absolutely amazing, I’ve been browsing around the January Furniture Show 2018 at the NEC in Birmingham today. I didn’t actually know much about this show beforehand, my property developer friend Kathy actually called me a couple of weeks ago and we arranged to meet there today. It was so lovely to have someone to walk around the show with and chat to, to have lunch with and chat more about all the wonderful things we’ve seen at the show. I love a good interior design trade show… So here we go…

And of course, I saw thousands of things that I loved, from furniture, to fabric, to soft furnishings, to home accessories. And I had my favourite stands, quite a lot of them, and everything was so different. There was something different and amazing to look at everywhere I turned as we mainly concentrated on the Interior Accessories Hall and the Premium Interior Hall.

January Furniture Show 2018 Highlights

I would really like to show you my top picks and highlights from the 2018 January Furniture Show, there are quite a few… so I’ll show you my ultimate favourites and then add more pictures to some future blog posts. I really couldn’t help having favourites…

Scatter Box

One of my favourite stands was actually the first one that I went to…

I really love soft furnishings and accessories, especially scatter cushions as they just finish off the space as one of the final details, they make an interior look finished. And having experience in interior styling, this is so important to me.

Dar Lighting

Something I couldn’t miss and is my favourite lighting stand by far…

I absolutely loved this stand because I love lighting and all of the variations it comes in and there was some really special pieces on the stand. There was a beautiful lamp or light fitting everywhere I looked.

Baa Stool

Now for my favourite product in the show… Baa Stool…

This stunning stand really stood out to me, full of beautiful luxury products that I just fell in love with. There were so many different styles in a variety of colours. And they don’t just sell Baa Stools, they have a range of other beautiful Baa products. I really didn’t want to leave this amazing stand.

Culinary Concepts

This huge stand was a real showstopper and was another one of my favourites…

I saw this stand from a mile away and it really stood out for me and I just had to go over and have a good look around. There were so many different interior accessories that I loved and they all fitted really well together as part of the stand.

MacQuillan Home

This lovely stand had some of my favourite lamps…

I was really excited when I saw the lamps on this stand, they are just fabulous and I would love to use them in one of my interior design schemes. And there were so many of them that I loved.

Malini

So many scatter cushions to choose from and yet another favourite…

This beautiful stand had so many stunning scatter cushions and they are most definitely right on trend with all of the colours they had… Especially with the Ultra Violet colour of the year.

CIMC

An incredibly glamorous stand as always and another favourite for me…

This stand is always incredibly eye-catching because of it’s glamorous design and I can’t help but wander around this one for ages. There was just so much to see, from glamorous furniture to glistening interior accessories, every time I turned, there was something new and exciting to look at.

Spirit

Some of my favourite sofas and chairs in the show…

From the dusky pinks to the neutrals to the floral patterns, this stand is right on trend this year. I love how the dusky pink and neutral sofas have been contrasted with these beautiful floral patterned chairs.

Alstons Sofas for Living

My final favourite is actually the last stand that I went to…

I was really drawn to this stand because of it’s bright vibrant colour combinations that just worked so well. And it was a real highlight of the show for me, so it was a great stand to end on leaving me in such a happy positive mood. How could I not be after seeing this beautiful unique burst of colour. It left me with a smile while driving home in the dark and rain.

So the show really did begin and end incredibly well, with loads of amazing things in between.

Today may not have started off that great because I spent over an hour trying to get the Tom Tom to switch on, it’s quite an old one, so the battery isn’t what it used to be. And then I got completely soaked through in a huge downpour whilst going to the supermarket to buy my lunch. But in the end it all turned out okay, I dried off relatively quickly on my way to the NEC and parking was easy, and I got to hang out with my friend doing what I love, all things interior design related.

I was very sensible and went prepared with my bag with my lunch, tablet, notebook and space to put anything that I collected, although I ended up with four more bags full of brochures, very heavy. And I’m pleased to say I wore sensible shoes, there is nothing worse than high heels when walking around a show at the NEC, and yes I learned this the hard way a couple of years ago. I’m sure I’ll be attending more interior design shows at some point this year and I’d love to share the experience with you.

I will upload another post tomorrow to show you some of the brochures that I collected. I’ll upload a few more posts over the next few days to give you a bigger flavour of the show. Along with some more detailed posts of some more of my favourites. So watch this space…
