Initial Game Piece Design Idea
Initially I thought of 3D printing my game pieces and having game pieces like the Eiffel Towel, the Statue of Liberty, Big Ben, Sidney Opera House, the Taj Mahal, Pyramids, etc. However it is too obvious and I started to think it didn’t fit with the design of my game. Yes they are famous monuments of countries, but I want a closer relationship to culture and the patterns on my cards.
My Chosen Game Piece Design
The base of each of the game pieces will take the same shape as the cards – squares, circles, octagons and dodecahedrons. These will each have holes in them to collect pegs when a question is answered correctly. They will eventually be coloured to relate to some of the colours found on in the patterns on the back of the question cards.
Therefore my game pieces are people wearing the traditional national dress of countries.
I have drawn up all the shapes in illustrator to be laser cut. And I have produced designs to stick onto them. The sheet below contains all of my individual pieces to make my game pieces.
Anther blog post will follow with my full finished design for my game pieces and will be available at:
