Northampton Cultural Quarter – The Errol Flynn Filmhouse

The Errol Flynn Filmhouse

The Errol Flynn Filmhouse was founded and developed by the team at the Royal and Derngate theatre in Northampton. The filmhouse was first opened to the public on Thursday 30th of June 2013 on the Birthday of Errol Flynn, the Hollywood icon. It is a cinema located adjacent to the theatres. Northampton has been visited by world class artists and actors over the last 125 years with the most famous being the Hollywood actor Errol Flynn who spent 6 months as a member of the Northampton Rep acting company, now known as the Royal and Derngate theatre before travelling to Hollywood where he was made famous.

It is an 88 seat cinema that offers a luxury cinema viewing experience. All of the seats are made from luxury leather and each has an individual side table to allow visitors to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail while they watch the film. When opening the new filmhouse, it was decided that the connection to Errol Flynn would be celebrated by naming the filmhouse in his honour.
