The Vulcan Works in Northampton was constructed in 1875 for Mobbs and Co and is one of the best examples of surviving engineering works for the production of boot and shoe industry machinery.

The Vulcan Works project will transform the disused iron works and a selection of buildings between Guildhall Road, Angel Street and Fetter Street into a hub for a range of cultural businesses. The existing grade II listed building will undergo a £10.8 million refurbishment and redevelopment to create a managed work space for around 100 cultural businesses that will generate and sustain over 400 jobs in the next 10 years.
Funding is on loan to Northampton Borough Council from the Enterprise Zone Partnership and supports the enterprises determination for the growth of business in Northampton. This is another example of the ongoing development within Northampton town centre.
