Pan Y Pasteles Bakery Is Pretty In Pink

PAN Y PASTELES MADRID BY IDEO ARQUITECTURA

If you love the colour pink and pastries, you’ll absolutely love this bakery interior design. Sometimes a simple well executed concept can make a magnificent impact. This is definitely the case with Pan y Pasteles Bakery, which is located near Madrid in the city of Alcala de Henares. This stunning pretty in pink design was produced by the Ideo Arquitectura studio; by the founder architect and designer Virginia del Barco.

The 150-year-old building was completely transformed, while taking the historic rustic qualities of the original brick walls and complementing it with a contemporary ceiling design and installation. The aesthetic of the interior design is quite playful while remaining sophisticated and brings a uniquely quality to the interior space.

The Architect and designer Virginia del Barco, suspended 12.000 wooden sticks from the ceiling within this bakery interior. The client has the belief that every bakery should be unique and different to the others and the clients only specific interior design request was to use the corporate colour of the company which is magenta pink.

The building itself is located in the historic centre of the town of Alcala de Henares, near Madrid. The bakery is on the ground floor of avery interesting historic building. “As soon as we demolished the internal walls and cleaned up the façade, we realised that we didn’t have to invent that much,” explains Virginia. “With their History, the existing brick walls spoke by themselves giving the space a huge personality.”

To enable Ideo Arquitectura to achieve the contemporary design, the design team needed to find an element with a strong character that would compete with the strong historic character of the 150-year-old-framed walls without eclipsing them. Therefore they decided to create an artistic installation: which consists of over 12.000 wooden magenta pink sticks that are hanging vertically from the ceiling of the bakery. Additionally, the architect and designer, Virginia del Barco, has also designed the lighting, some of the furniture including; the chairs, stools, shelves,  bartop, whiteboards, and the light boxes in the façades of the building.

As an interior designer and interior architect myself, I absolutely love this interior design as there is really something to be said about how beautiful a design can be when the old historic and traditional is mixed with the new, modern and contemporary. In this case, it has created a very elegant and sophisticated look while also being stylish and trendy. The magenta pink colour in the modern elements of the interior design, really complements the beautiful historic architectural brickwork of the walls.
